Network Analysis Study for Solving Complex Problems
My friend Greg founded a compost collection company based in Indianapolis Indiana. Greg runs the day-to-day operations, picking up composted materials from his 324 customers across two counties. This is a very large area for one person to manage. Greg works five days a week, sometimes he works up to 14-hour days. In order to optimize his routes, I geolocated all his customers and ran an analysis in Maptitude GIS with the goal of getting his workdays down to 8 hours and possibly throw in a day off every now and then. The number of routes possible is impossible to imagine, but the software will design an optimized path based on the desired parameters. Yoou will find the results below. The GIS software was able to reduce workdays to less than 8 hours in most cases. Remember, we used 10 minutes as work time for each stop. Generally, it takes Greg less time, but we can factor in lunch and breaks to take up the rest of the time calculated per stop.
